Wrapped in Colour, Art Works Gallery Holiday Exhibit
December 4th – January 3rd, 2007
‘Wrapped in Colour’, Dec 4th – Jan 3rd, explores how artwork can envelop one’s senses and take you on a vivid journey; from French poppy fields in a work by Margaret Devenyi to an abstracted dimension in a work by Riyadh Hashim. This exhibition features work from over 25 diverse artists, including new pieces from:
Bill Bragg

Bill Bragg resides in Kelowna with his wife Carol and has been an active painter for the past forty years. Bragg’s approach to painting evolved out of the Abstract Expressionism movement which dominated the international art scene throughout the 1940’s and 50’s.He began his artistic journey at the Ontario College of Art in the early 1960’s where he focused on life drawing, painting and printmaking.
Paul Nickless

Paul paints in the Abstract Expressionist style as his way of expressing thought, experiences, environment and temporary emotion. History, environment, science and personal interests are the main subjects that Paul draws inspiration from and they provide the creative inspiration behind his paintings. Paul paints because it's the raw way he expresses himself. His oil paintings strive to draw the energy out of his environment and experiences.
Wayne Leidenfrost

Wayne first picked up a brush and started painting at the age of twelve and the immediate feeling was one of exhilaration. Wayne works on his lush landscapes and florals in a small studio with no windows and rarely paints during the day. He does most of his work in the evenings and into the early hours of dawn when most of the world is sleeping.
Ken West

Ken was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. and took his first drawing class at the age of eight. Ken’s unique understanding of light and shadow is evident in the reflective quality of his work. Ken’s work is receiving recognition in both private and corporate markets.
Marie Danielle Leblanc

Marie-Danielle’s work evolves around materials - their contrast and their texture. Using raw pigments, tar, varnishes and resins as her primary source of inspiration – the artist exploits the beauty and emotion of these physical materials. She layers colours and textures that allow her to create landscapes that are seemingly captured in space.
