Trio II, once is never enough

What do Microsoft, ICBC and The Keg have in common? Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, right? The answer is they've each bought artwork from one of the three artists involved in Art Works Gallery's latest exhibition entitled Trio II, once is never enough. The list doesn't stop there either. Each artist boasts an impressive list of clients ranging from Ferrari to the Hyatt Regency. Aside from celebrating their commercial successes, these three artists are passionate about making beautiful artwork.

Each artist has their own unique style. Adamo abandons the monotony of conventional rendering of geometric forms through his textured surfaces and rough contours. Quirke's work is largely based on the Pacific west coast's lush rainforests, gardens, its surging waters and creeks while Van Tuinen creates strikingly modern artwork working in encaustic. 

John Spike, critic and art director of the Florence Biennale had this to say about Van Tuinen:

Debra Van Tuinen is an artist who is making things more beautiful. Her work consists of delightful contemplations of a twilight feel... The work evokes a tone ranging from Whistler to Rothko, and it acts to invite our contemplation and meditation. Gold leaf is evocative as twilight sun, as precious as gold. In general it makes the rest of the painting look poor. Debra's 'Old Growth/New Life' is the most successful application of this technique I have ever seen. She has accomplished a miracle. 

These three artists create a trifecta for Art Works Gallery, each representing one polished style from the gallery's extensive catalogue of work. Trio II is not to be missed.
