Scat: The Art of
Improvisation
June 12th - July 7th, 2007
The work featured in this exhibit revolves around the belief and passion that a form of music can inspire, educate and please our senses all at the same time. Like art, music has the power to feed and transform our mental and emotional state, whether listening to it or performing it.
Every musical composition that moves the listener is the perfect collaboration of rhythm, beats, bass, the voice of the singers and the lyrics. Similarly, with art, every piece is the alliance of colour, stroke, vision and passion that transfers onto the canvas.
The feature artist Karen Hollowell is very familiar with this concept.
She demonstrates this will with her passion for the art and her passion for the blues. This past summer, her work was exhibited at the famous Delta Blues Museum in Mississippi. She joins her fellow artists who share an equal passion for music in this summer’s exhibit called
/Scat: the art of improvisation./ Among some of the artists are Lawrence Cormier, Bozena Happach, Ken Prescott and Graham Forsythe.
If you love music or love art, you won’t want to miss this one.
