Biography Nansi Lynn Kivisto was born in Ontario but raised in Burnaby, B.C., and is of Scandinavian descent. Nansi's passion for photography stemmed from an early age and quickly evolved while achieving her Bachelor's Degree at the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design. Studies in England opened the door to the creative adventures of architecture. Inspired by the ancient buildings in London, Paris, Copenhagen and Helsinki, she returned with a new appreciation of Vancouver, creating this current series of black & white architectural photographs.
Nature is another inspiring subject matter for Nänsi. She captures colourful close-ups creating unique compositions with 1970’s Polaroid camera’s. She also enjoys exploring the world of infrared which highlights the foliage into a dream-like quality.
Nansi frequently experiments with the creative process in the darkroom by manipulating images to create impressive double exposures.
Influenced by photographer Jerry N. Uelsman, the master of manipulation, Nansi is always exploring progressive photographic techniques and continues to surprise...even herself.
Nansi's black and white Double-exposures,Nature and Architecture photographs are available for sale through the gallery.
